Abstract

This project is based on the development of a fiber optic rewinding system. The fibers produced in the group's fabrication towers are initially wound onto large spools. For ease of use and storage, they need to be transferred to smaller spools. The plan is for the student to build a functional prototype machine for this transfer, featuring independent motors for the two spools, speed control, and tension adjustment. The resulting equipment will be usable in both of the group's towers - polymer and silica. The prototype will be developed with the support of one technician from our Institute; the student will also prepare the 3D model of the entire system, the user manual, and perform the adjustments for the first version. In parallel, the student will also study and fabricate polymer optical fibers for WGM (whispering-gallery mode) devices with lateral optical coupling, as well as hollow-core fibers.
