Abstract

For wind-turbine blades, integral methods for boundary layer were proposed based on simple velocity profiles and theoretical approaches. Analyses of the boundary-layer evolution based on data of the flow considering rotational effects can contribute to the development of more accurate models. This research aims at studding the boundary-layer over a wind-turbine airfoil under rotational effects focusing on the velocity profile and the evolution of integral quantities. Simulations with computational fluid dynamics, based on the finite volume method, will be carried out to generate flow data. Different angles of attack and rotational conditions will be considered. The results will provide reference data to assess integral methods and contribute for a better understanding of the rotational effect on the boundary layer over wind-turbine blades.
