Abstract

The energy transition has become one of the major challenges and opportunities of the 21st century, with China standing out as a global leader in investments in renewable energy technologies, energy storage, and the electrification of productive sectors. This Scientific Initiation project aims to conduct a technical and analytical survey of China's energy matrix and its transition plan, focusing on the evolution of installed capacity from renewable sources (solar, wind, and hydropower), storage strategies, smart grids, and energy efficiency measures. Additionally, the study will assess the implications of this transition for the stability and reliability of the electrical system, including the role of support technologies such as large-scale batteries, high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines, and demand-supply forecasting systems. The research will also investigate the relationship between the energy transition and the electrification of urban mobility, analyzing the growth of electric vehicle fleets and their impacts on the national grid. The findings aim to identify technologies and strategies that can serve as references for future energy transition projects in Brazil, particularly in the State of São Paulo, contributing to the objectives of CPTEn through comparative analyses and replicability studies.
