Abstract

Water presents an economic value when the multiple uses are considered. It must be recognized as a valuable resource that guarantees the fundamental right of every human being to access to water and sanitation at an affordable price. In this context, the management of water resources becomes important issue of the use, conservation and protection. The watershed of Monjolinho is tributary of Jacaré-Guaçú Basin and the water quality of this lotic environment is affects the by human such as: inadequate disposal of solid waste (landfills), agricultural and industrial products. Thus, this project aims to characterize the water quality of the watershed of the Rio Monjolinho using limnological assessment as a tool for environmental management. Thus, the limnological assessment is an important tool for identifying the state of water quality of a water body, and the limnological variables most affected by human actions by land use are: pH, turbidity, oxygen dissolved, coliforms fecal, chlorophyll and concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus.
