Abstract

Lignans e neolignans have attracted much interest over the years on account of their broad range of biological activities. Previous biological activities showed that tetrahydrofuran and dibenzyl butyrolactone lignans possess in vitro and in vivo antischistosomal activities. Considering the previously obtained results and as part of the Young Research Fapesp Project 06/60132-4, the aims of this project are: to obtain the tetrahydrofuran neolignans and dilactone lignans (1-3); to isolate, to purify, and to identify the obtained compounds, as well as to evaluate the in vitro antischistossomial, antileishmanial and trypanocidal activities of these synthesized compounds. These compounds will be obtained by in vitro oxidative coupling using different phenylpropanoids. After synthesized, these compounds will be purified using several techniques, including chromatographic methods, and identified by spectroscopic analysis (p. ex. RMN 1H and 13C). All obtained compounds will be evaluated in the in vitro antischistossomial, antileishmanial and trypanocidal assays against, respectively, Schistosoma mansoni, and Leishmania amazonensis, and Trypanosoma cruzi.(AU)
