Abstract

Since the process of deinstitutionalization, the families of patientes with severe mental desorder has gived health care and lived with their illed relative, resulting in burden of care. There are two kinds of burden: the objective and the subjective. While the first one refers to the concrete negatives consequences of the routine, the second one refers to how the family percieve it self and evaluate been in this situation. This subject has been widely explored in the first world countries, but there is a lack of estudies like this one in the brazilian literature, because of the difficulty in access a transcultural valid scale. Studies has shown that the burden is cyclical, havind the possibility to vary in the periods of crisis and stability. The objective of this study is to systematically evaluate the burden of care, objective and subjective, in families of patients with severe mental desorders, in the context of psichiatric emergency. The study has a descriptive methodological approach. The data will be colleted through the application of the scale and the social-demografic interview on the families accompanying the patient in the Unidade de Emergência do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto (UE-HCFMRP-USP). It will be used the descriptive statistic considering the data that refers to the indentification of the patients and its caregiver and the results obtained in the scale will be classified by scores, described by Media in attendance to the results of each item. We believe that this study can bring relevant contributions to those who are interested in knowing and describing the impact of mental disroders in the family
