This research proposal aims to a study of architectonic epigraphs, typographic inscriptions find in São Paulo city central area, by means of vector illustrations. The procedure of vectorization is necessary, once photographs can't show with precision all details of an epigraph, making their study difficulty and even impossible. The vectorization procedure consists in drawing lines over the image of the epigraphs, respecting their forms and proportions, correcting damages and eliminating any useless information. Besides the study of the epigraphs, this vector drawings will be part of an architectonic typography archive in São Paulo city. After the vector drawings, an analysis of all vectorized epigraphs will be done, and will consist in a description and classification of the letters of these epigraphs. The classification will use a crossed classification system, developed by Catherine Dixon. This system is more complex than the traditional systems of classification, but is more detailed, and better suited for this study.
