Abstract

This project objects to carry out a description of an Urban Park formation, in this case, it is the Ourinhos’s Ecological Park - SP to value how its became a public area after being a private one, just as its management and current ambient importance. The Ecological Park is located at the urban area in Ourinhos, south west of São Paulo’s State and it stands out for presents forest fragment (Atlantic forest of interior) an important green public area with a big ecological worth (since it gets important Atlantic forest native species) and social for recreation and leisure. This study intends to identify the reasons which leaded the Public power to get interested for this area and how happened the dispossession process for its becoming a protected unit. At the same time we will value which functions this municipal Park can offer and the management of this important green area. In this way, this research will contribute for studies of protected areas in urban spaces aiming to subsidize the management and the ambient planning.
