Abstract

In the operation and planning of power systems frequently we have to deal with large, complex and non linear optimization problems. The so called interior point methods have been used, recently, to solve several of those problems, as can be seen in the technical literature and in recent master and doctor thesis. This project has as objective to introduce the student to such methods and, also, to apply the methods to some power system optimization problems. The project is composed by a bibliography revision and some simple problems shall be solved using the Matlab system. In the sequence problems (at the level of the Scientific Initiation) will be solved through interior point methods. At the end of the project C or C++ routines to solve the problem will be proposed.
