Abstract

The continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) is made up of set of actions of great complexity, within the framework of chronic renal failure. The nurse, working in home care, educational interventions should plan for both the patient and his family. These interventions aim to orient them about the disease and dialysis treatment, and take control of the treatment regimen, to be held by them at home, under the supervision of the health team. A chronic health condition in a family member is often surrounded by negative expectations and beliefs, which cause significant changes in family dynamics. Studies show that in this situation, major changes occur and traumatic for the whole family, leading her to re-evaluate their ideas, major changes in their living standards, seeking new ways to adapt. In this sense, both the patient and family members need support and guidance consistent team to address these challenges, enabling them to take a rigorous and ongoing treatment. The motivation to conduct this study arose from the recognized importance that family members represent the dialysis done at home. In order to accomplish the support and guidance to the family, is crucial for nurses to know how its members live with their new reality, and the difficulties they face in the process of CAPD. The project is based on the existential phenomenology of Merleau-Ponty, it is proposed to understand the human experience from the description of those who experience it. The study data will be collected in individual interviews recorded with the family that participate in patient care during a home visit routine. The guiding question of the interview is: "How do you do to take care of your family is in PA?" Then, another supplementary question will be added: "Describe 2 situations that have occurred in the course of PD." The interviews will be transcribed accurately, destroying it, then the recordings. The data will be analyzed according to the steps of the phenomenological method.
