Abstract

In the present research project we consider a three-dimensional (3D) approach for thenumerical treatment of few-body systems, developed by Dr. Hadizadeh and others. In particular, our interest is to verify the limit of validity of universal properties observed in the study of low-energy few-body systems. The relevance of studying up to four particles interacting at low energies, in particular in the Efimov limit, is enhanced by recent experiments in ultracold laboratories. Our aim is to start the project by considering bound-state three-body systems, with realistic two-body interactions, using the 3D approach developed by the visitor in his previous projects. A comparison with results obtained withzero-range interactions is relevant in order to verify the limit of validity of conclusions concerned the universality in few-body systems (see references in the attached first proposal).Next, a realistic model should be developed for the low-energy atomic dimer-dimer interaction, in a four-body model. In view of the previous experience of the participants in the treatment of few-nucleon systems, we should also consider three-force effects in three-nucleon interactions, as well as relativistic aspects. Details of the proposals, based on application of the three dimensional (3D) approach, are attached. We should emphasize that the first proposal should be considered as the principal one. The other proposals are to be considered as possible ones, which will depend on the development of the first.
