Abstract

The complexity in understanding the content of images, have driven researchers in the field of computer vision to find alternative lines, which strengthens the multidisciplinary profile of the area. One such area of research is bio-inspired computing, in which the methods are based on the way in which nature over millions of years found solutions to problems related to living things. The bio-inspired algorithms based on the social behavior of ant colonies, in particular, the ability of the colony to find a shortest path between the nest to a food source were initially proposed to solve optimization problems and distributed control. Recently, some researchers have proposed changes to the algorithm implementation in providing images. This project proposes the study of ant-based algorithms and their applications in images. It is intended to verify the performance, features and advantages of the approach based on ants and eventually propose improvements or adaptations to ants applied to images.
