Abstract

The Arara do Rio Branco Indian community discuss their language as part of a cultural revitalization process. Although this language is considered as member of the Mondé linguistic family by the eminet linguist Aryon Rodrigues, there are some controversies about its proper classification, because of the lack of deeper analysis about it. Therefore, the content of this project will be the preliminary study of such language through vocabulary analysis and comparisons to the other Arara languages in the neighborhood as well as to the Mondé e Ramarama family languages, in order to carry out a more safely classification and documentation of such Arara heritage s piece.
