Abstract

Investigating how network topologies relate to synchronization properties is bound to be a great and extensive research topic spanning different fields of science. The author expects that coupling topology optimizations will reveal network structures with a great deal better synchronization properties than the ones present in non-optimized networks like mutually-connected, master-slave, regular, hierarchical, small-world or scale-free networks etc. In this work, synchronization properties stand for plenty of characteristics related to synchronism which can be very important for many technological applications like digital telecommunication networks. Regarding specifc types of synchronism, as phase and frequency synchronism, the topological characteristics of optimized networks are likely to be useful for building synchronou networks more reliable and cheaper than the non-optimized ones. The computational tools developed for optimization will be able to be employed in other works related to complex network.This project also aims at a second goal: once some measures considering the synchronous state are correlated to some topological properties (as exposed in former works) the author find it possible that a estimation of the average path in a complex network can be performanced by means of synchronism. Thus, a method based on synchronism could be a manner of estimating the average path of a complex network using a less complex algorithm than the ones commonly used. The computational tools developed for the optimizations might be employed in order to achieve this second goal. (AU)
