Abstract

Brown Adipose Tissue(BAT)is the main site of facultative thermogenesis in small rodents and is activated by sympathetic nervous system through NE that binds to Beta 1, Beta 2 and Beta 3 adrenergic receptors expressed in brown adipocytes. Although there are many previously studies showing that Beta receptors play a fundamental role in body weight regulation, it still not clear the role of each isoform in this process. Therefore, the goal of our study is to evaluate the role of Beta 3 isoform in facultative thermogenesis induced by cold exposure in mice with knockout for Beta 3 receptor. The methodological analysis used will involve physiological and molecular parameters. Physiological parameters include food intake, body weight, oxygen consumption and BAT thermogenic response by infusion of NE and cold sensitivity. Immediately after death of the animals, BAT will be processed for UCP1 Western blot expression measure. The analysis of different parameters will help to better understand the role of Beta 3 adrenergic receptor in during cold induced thermogenesis.
