Abstract

The Project's goal is the development of documented procedures, execution of assemblies and experimental validations of arrays for technical improvement of some procedure tests developed by a Division of Testing and Calibration at Biomedical Engineering Laboratory of the Escola Politécnica at the University of São Paulo, a Testing House of electro medical equipment. This Laboratory is accredited by INMETRO and belongs to the Brazilian Network of Testing Laboratories. There was a preliminary selection of tests to be performed and, therefore, arrays to be developed, among many that are needed in the Laboratory. The tests were selected to offer the scholarship holder appropriate conditions to develop a Scientific Research Project, contributing to her background in the Electrical Engineering course at Escola Politécnica of the University of São Paulo. The accomplishment of this Project will make possible an appropriate background, both conceptual and experimental, in fields such as metrology, medical instrumentation, tests and certification of electro medical equipment, according to INMETRO and ANVISA / Ministério da Saúde requirements. Under these conditions, the selected tests were the defibrillation test, leakage current test, accuracy of data test to external pacemaker and accuracy of data test for an infusion pump. However, during this Scientific Research Project, tests other than these mentioned may be performed according to the needs of the Laboratory and considering the improvement of the scholarship holder background in all the fields previously mentioned. All procedures and arrays created during this Project will be documented, validated and approved by the Lab´s high administration, according to INMETRO requirements, so that they can actually be used by the Laboratory. This project will also contribute directly to the improvement of measuring procedures and tests manuals of the Laboratory, although the primary goal is the improvement of the student's background and experience. It is expected that by the end of the Project, both the scholarship holder and the Laboratory have been greatly benefited by the outcomes of the Project.
