Abstract

In the present project we use the topological instability l criterion, proposed by our group to select compositions adequate to form amorphous structure under conditions of low cooling rates in the Al-Ni-Gd system. The project involve the choice of compositions, production of several alloys by rapid solidification via melt-spinning and thermal and structural characterization by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).
