Abstract

The fast growth of direct current generation, mainly due to the strong appeal for renewable energy, either for islanded systems or for subsystems coupled to the alternating current main systems, has resulted in many researches for operating and control of the so called microgrids. All the components which compose the dc microgrid, such as the generators, the electronic controllers that coordinate the sources operation and the storage elements must be properly dimensioned for a better use of the available energy. Regardless of the technological development of modern microgrids, storing dc generated energy still remains an important limitation for these systems. Therefore, the continuous development of studies e methodologies on storage and rational use of energy must be stimulated. This project proposes a methodology for dimensioning energy storage elements used in dc microgrids. A software will be created to help the storage dimensioning for distinct power levels and applications, considering the present technology. This software will be written in the MatLab platform, using mathematic and graphic templates. (AU)
