Abstract

The changes in family types and have been highlighted during the last decades. Social and cultural practices that configure new types of sociability and the changes that occurred especially in women's roles and in their representation in the family, but also in the roles of men are some of the factors responsible for this process. Considering that the family represents the first universe of relations of the child and that, consequently, it has a very important role in the individual's development, the present study aims to the understanding of these changes in families that have a member (son/daughter) with developmental problems, when compared to the socially expected standard of language, social interaction and behavior for the age-group of the child. This study will focus on the daily practices and on the ways families organize themselves. The families attend a rehabilitation center (CEPRE-FCM-UNICAMP). The research focuses on the modes of sociability, parents-child relationship, rules of coexistence, authority and education (among others) and proposes the investigation of the factors that aid to configure the dynamics and practices that characterize this particular group of families.
