Abstract

The Capsicum annuum L. are among the most consumed vegetables in Brazil and currently has losses related to bacterial wilt, caused by the pathogen Ralstonia solanacearum. The project aims to assess the damage caused by this bacterium by biochemical markers such as peroxidase and polyphenoloxidase enzymes closely related to the development of the pathogen, since that show changes in activity in response to oxidative stress, which can be caused by microorganisms . The first stage of the experiment will be conducted in a greenhouse and the experiment will consist of 120 pots containing two plants each, a total of 240 seedlings, which will be supplied by Sakata Sedd Sudamérica. The seedlings will be collected at 0, 2, 4, 8 and 16 days after inoculation and frozen with liquid nitrogen for subsequent storage at -80 º C. The second step consists of the biochemical analysis using the peroxidase and polyphenoloxidase. The site where the pathogen settles becomes darkened, promoting the oxidation of the tissues, ie, graft, which affect seedling growth and may thus show changes in activity of these enzymes. The results will be statistically analyzed and the final is expected to advance the process of detecting damage caused by the bacterium, combining methods of biochemical analysis (markers) with symptoms of the field.
