Audiological assessment in workers exposed to amplified music

Abstract

Currently the interest for the precocious diagnosis of the auditory alterations has increased had to the fact of these alterations attack, of fast form, the hair cells. Literature points the use of battery of form tests to determine if it has a method more sensible than the conventionals to diagnosis the loss precociously auditory, being thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the auditory acuity of workers of nocturnal houses, to investigate which method will be more sensible for precocious identification of auditory alterations, the time of evaluation and cost of each method, to compare the performance of the participants in the tonal audiometry preliminary, extreme-high audiometry of frequencies and otoacustic emissions. 20 workers of nocturnal houses displayed to amplified music will participate of this study, of both sorts. As exclusion criterion, we determine: to present neurological problems, psychiatric, and/or cardiopath; to make ototoxic medication use; to present auditory deficiency with definitive etiology. From the statistical analyses that will be used one expects that the gotten data allow to trace a audiometric profile of this population. Ahead of the waited results, if observed that the method takes care of the necessities of the audiologic clinic, how much to the cost, practicity, rapidity, sensitivity and specificity, the use of such method for the clinical routine will be indicated, or as procedure of precocious identification for those citizens displayed to the occupational noise, what it will contribute for the diagnosis and precocious intervention, beyond programs of promotion of the auditory health.
