Abstract

In the core of researches concerning teachers education, reforms and the formative standard which is intended to be implanted, one issue has been little considered: the teaching work of the teacher educator. This is the one who leads the initial formation of teachers and who has been constantly challenged to promote the dynamization of teaching at licentiateship courses, the one who enables and promotes experiences and knowledge to consolidate the education of the prospective teacher. In this scenery of new demands for the teaching work of the teacher educator the deepening of studies concerning the specificities of his work becomes necessary. Thus, the present project is intended to contribute for this discussion, for it investigates how the teacher educator conceive his work, particularly concerning to the new requirements and tasks deriving from the reformation in teacher instruction of the basic education. The study of the ethnographic type of case was the methodological alternative found for the development of the research. The aim is to accomplish the study in a university institution of the interior of the state of São Paulo which offers licentiateship courses. The purpose is to study the personal scope (teacher educator) and the institutional one (the context). The data will come from three types of sources: documents, interviews and observation. The interpretation, explanation and discussion of the data will be carried on through the basis of the theoretical referential that subsidizes the study. It is important to emphasize that the present project will be developed as a part of a group of research that investigates the teaching work of the teacher educator. This group, of which the researcher is a constituent part, will study other instances of the same nature. Thus, the data collected in these different institutions add value to the present project of research.
