Caruncular fusion analysis in cow pregnancy

Abstract

Even though the first relates about caruncles have been made in 1834 by BURCKHARDT, and the first about caruncles fusion in 1966 by ZIEGER and ZSCHIESCHE, still today the literature about this subject is poor. Therefore this project about the macro and microscopic study about the caruncles fusion regions of catlle pregnancy in different period, can inform some existing duvids. For the results will be collected the pregnant uterus of 30 cattles proceeding of slaughter house divided in four groups for pregnancy time (30 to 90 days, 120 to 184 days, 210 to 240 days, and 241 to 270 days). The material will be fixed for perfusion and immersion with 10% formaldehyde aqueous solution in sodium phosphate buffer solution 0,1M pH 7,4 or 4% paraformoldehyde in the same buffer and embedded in Histosec (Merck) or Historesina (Leica), both procedures for light microscopy visualization. The sections will stain with H&E, Masson's tricrome, histochemistry reaction of periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) countertained with Harris' hematoxylin, Picrosirius, blue Toluidine, methylene blue plus basic fucsin, hematoxilin-floxin. The results will be compared later with areas of same value in cloned bovine placentas, for clearing placental anomalies causes of fetal and neonatal losses cloned bovines.
