Abstract

Some pesticides, whose active ingredient is thiamethoxam, produce physiological effects in different cultures even in the absence of pests. The experiment will be installed an experimental area at Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz", Piracicaba-SP. The objective of this study is to evaluate dry matter accumulation in Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu, under greenhouse and field, in the absence of pests, with the application of different doses of thiamethoxam. In the greenhouse, the treatments correspond to combinations of two fertilization levels (with and without fertilization) and four products to control insect pests that have as the active ingredient thiamethoxam (untreated, 300 g Actara/ha, 400 ml Engeo Pleno/ha, 531,9 ml Engeo Pleno/ha). In the field, the treatments correspond to six insecticides (witness; 300 g Actara/ha; 800 g Actara/ha; 400 ml Engeo Pleno/ha; 531,9 ml Engeo Pleno/ha; 848 ml Karate/ha). The height of cut to be adopted is 15 cm from ground level. Cuts of the accumulation of shoot will be made every 28 days to determine dry matter and at the end of the experiment in the greenhouse will determine the dry weight of root system.
