Abstract

The project presented here aims to analyze the uses of contemporary politician's voice in the production of truth in their speech. More particularly, we are interested in the voice inflections employed by political candidates to build the authenticity of their enunciation and to build the frankness of what is said in their election speeches, mobilizing, for both, not only a series of linguistic resources such as modalizations and marks of orality, but also a set of prosodic modulations in melody, rhythm and voice quality. Based on the theoretical principles and operational procedures of discourse analysis, we will analyze José Serra, Dilma Rousseff and Marina Silva's speeches made during the last week of the first round of Presidential elections in 2010 and presented on free television time for political publicity (Horário Gratuito de Propaganda Eleitoral)
