Abstract

The EDDS (ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid) chelator is proposed as a substitute for EDTA for the remediation of soils contaminated with heavy metals, mainly due to its higher biodegradability. However, few studies were dedicated to the possible biological actions of such complexes, and virtually none addressed their possible therapeutic action. In this project we propose the continuation of previous works and propose the investigation of the interactions between M-EDDS (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) and human serum albumin, in order to assess the role of this model protein in the distribution of the complexes to some microorganisms (fungi and bacteria).
