Abstract

This project aims to investigate correlations between linear and nonlinear measures of heart rate variability assessment in the context of pathological conditions. Initially, a review of widely adopted methods in such an analysis provides the starting conditions for the deepening of its properties and to the search for relevant interconnections. Considering the inherent paradigm difference and the lack of a mathematical correlation between linear and nonlinear models, the goal here is to quantify a partial correlation between them, in an attempt to establish a relationship. Analyses will be made on signals from normal individuals, and from that operated in pathological situations (Chagas disease and hypertension), noting if the correlation remains at the pairing of the results by a linear statistical approach. It is expected from this study to find out whether exist correlations, and under what conditions this correlation is maintained for normal situations, Chagas disease and hypertension in nonlinear and linear measures.
