The development of work to promote the upgrade of cartographic products is essential, important and strategic for the development of the country, mainly in the area of planning. This research proposes to apply techniques of Mathematics Morphology to extract cartographic features in digital images, targeting the upgrade of cartographic products. It intents to apply and / or develop operators based on Mathematics Morphology. It is expected in the end of the search, propose routines for extraction of features in digital images and the results obtained can be applied in the upgrading of cartographic products. It intends in the methodology being developed, apply on the image, pre-processing, processing, segmentation, classification and post-processing of cartographic features of interest, such as roads, runways, airports, drainage networks, autodromos, and areas of burnt. It is of paramount importance, the development of methodologies that can be applied to cartography, as the lack of updated cartographic products hampers the rational planning by those ones who detain the responsibility and power in decision-making.
