Abstract

Nowadays, with the changing of the country's epidemiological profile, non transmittable diseases in Brazil began to strongly participate in the takes of population morbidity. The situation of chronic disease, especially when it affects the child's figure is an important stressor to the family that feels sometimes unable to manage this reality. Considering the family as a co-participant in the care process, we can see the Family Health Strategy as a possible articulator in the family unit in the context of facing this experience. The purpose of this research is to characterize the family's needs because of the living with child's chronic disease situation and how the family realizes the relationship with the Family Health Unit in this experience. In this way, we opted for a qualitative methodological design that uses the Symbolic Interactionism as the theoretical basis, making narrative research and interview with families as a tool for data collection.
