Abstract

The design of a riser is a very complex task, as it must meet the requirements for a great number of environmental conditions, that may occur during its useful life. To facilitate and speed the process, genetic algorithms are an alternative, that search the best configuration to meet an objective and obey a set of pre-stablished design criteria, as maximum stresses.
