Abstract

The present study aims to investigate perceptions in Biosafety among dental students regarding the use of purge areas with emphasis on the processing of contaminated items and instruments. Undergraduate students of Araraquara School of Dentistry - UNESP that perform dental treatment in patients will be invited to participate in the study, and it is expected to achieve 30 volunteers. Qualitative interviews will be based on opened questions and each interview will be recorded. Their speeches will be transcribed in paper in order to be analyzed, and the QUALI-QUANTISOFT software, which allows the Analysis of the Collective Speeches (DSC) according to the methodology proposed by Lefèvre & Lefèvre (2003) will be applied. Three methodological figures will be obtained: central ideas, key-expressions and the DSC itself. The qualitative analysis is a rigorous resource in the evaluation of natural talk of the collectivity, and it is hoped to obtain a better comprehension of the subjects involved in this study, and the level of knowledge and the level of importance attributed to this stage of work. The results of this study may contribute with some strategies for teaching, improving protocols to facilitate proper adherence to the tasks of cleaning, disinfection and sterilization, promoting preventive approaches against occupational accidents and protecting patients against the danger of transmitting cross-infection diseases.
