Abstract The general objective of the project is to investigate the quantization of systemswith complex actions via the method of stochastic quantization. This quantizationmethod is based on the important analogy between an euclidean quantum field theory and classical statistical mechanics, in which one considers the quantum theory as theequilibrium limit of a fictitious time evolution of a statistical system coupledto a thermal reservoir. In the present project the evolution to equilibrium of systems with a complex action will be realized employing a Langevin equation with memory and colored noise. This nonlinear procedure was successfully employed recently with field theoretic problems, opening new possibilities aiming at improving the convergence to equilibrium in situations with complex actions. The studies willbegin with simple quantum mechanical problems with complex actions and willproceed with fermionic field theoretic problems with a chemical potential. (AU) | |
