Abstract

The relationships between economy and politics are held to be problematic: on the one hand, the economical discourse seems to reduce the political scope of the human being; on the other hand, the political discourse doesn't pay much attention to man's economical dimension. In order to understand this dilema, this projetc aims at studing Andrew Fletcher political works. According to recent scholarship, Fletcher is one of the first authors to deal with this question, so that Fletcher's work may be understood as an attempt to conciliate the political languages with the vocabularies of incipient comercial societies. This project intends to investigate whether Fletcher considers these two discourses antagonical or not.
