Abstract This project encompasses three main lines of research: the numerical modeling of isolated interacting galaxy pairs, the determination of the Tully-Fisher relation for galaxies in isolated interacting pairs and the study of the metallicity of tidal dwarf galaxies in compact groups of galaxies. The data available for the project are: 1) observations of galaxy pairs obtained in the last five years at the f/7.5 Cassegrain focus of the 2.1m telescope at the Observatorio Astronomico National in San Pedro Martir (Mexico), using the scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer PUMA (Rosado et al 1995), and 2) a 15-minute R image and multi-slit spectroscopy of about 40 galaxies in the field of stephan's quintet, obtained with Gemini in July 2002.
