Abstract

Corneal diseases such as keratoconus, corneal dystrophy and corneal sequestration are common in humans and domestic animals. Corneal transplantation are frequently used aiming the treatment of such affections and healthy corneal banks are necessary to supply this technique. Corneal swabs from healthy rabbits will be evaluated regarding their microflora. Moreover, the results will be compared to those obtained from the same cornea after storage for transplantation (30 days at -20°C). (AU)
