Effect of the propolis gel on the erosion in bovine dentine, in vitro

Abstract

This study has as aim evaluated in vitro the effect of the gel of propolis on the erosion caused by soft drink, in bovine dentine. It will be used 80 dentine blocks, divided in 4 experimental groups that will receive the following treatments: GI (propolis 10% gel), GII (propolis 20% gel), GII (fluoride gel) and GIV (control - only erosion). Initially the blocks will be stored in artificial saliva by 24 hours for formation of the acquired pellicle. The experimental stage will be accomplished in a single day, composed by 4 cycles of des-mineralization, after the application or not of the gels. The demineralization will be accomplished by the immersion of the blocks in soft drink of the type gels and the mineralization in artificial saliva. After the 4 cycles the blocks will be analyzed as for the wear and tear (perfilometry), to measure the effect of the gel used as preventive method. The data will be submitted to the statistical analysis (p < 0.05). (AU)
