Abstract

The issue of genetic improvement and of the possibilities of knowledge biotechnology have prompted a series of questions and concerns, encouraging debates varied, through moral and religious, economic and social as well, which is our special attention to important developments anthropological, so particular with regard to symbolic-evaluative representations about beauty, body, health, disease, life and death. Amid the hope and distrust each other, understanding genomic advances in several directions: the accuracy of the knowledge and skills of manipulation and control, to new therapies and biomedical practices; on Genetically Modified (GM) Products; in phenotypic correction (with medical indications and aesthetic), the possibility of corrections genotype (gene therapy), and the incorporation of new evaluative referential. Whereupon, we intend to address not only the practical clinical therapies, but mainly as biomedical knowledge, biotechnology and genomics are perceived and interpreted by the subjects evaluative seeking this form of knowledge and technical solutions to their various problems, and to assess the emergence of new theoretical referential for thinking about the classic anthropological debate about nature and culture.
