Abstract

The purpose of the project is the investigation of the exchange interaction in the following diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS) : Cd(1-x)Mn(x)X (X = Te, Se, S), Pb(1-x)Ce(x)Se and Sn(1-x)A(x)Te (A = Eu and Gd). In this way, the method that will be used is the magnetization-step (MST) spectroscopy Because magnetic interactions are often weak, it is necessary to carry out the MST measurements at very low temperatures and the Low Temperature group at USP is the only group which has the equipment and know-how to carry out MST research in the milliKelvin regime.
