Abstract

This submission refers to the participation of Dr. Roberto Martins de Souza in the program Novas Fronteiras, sponsored by FAPESP. The main objective of this project is to generate conditions for Dr. Souza to develop new ideas in the area of the Fracture Mechanics of Thin Films and Interfaces, not only in terms of the fracture toughness of the films, but also in terms of adhesion. The development of these ideas will occur under the supervision of Prof. Michel Ignat, from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, and will be guided by (but will not be restricted to) a set of specimens similar to the ones prepared in previous works of Dr. Souza. It is anticipated that the participation of Dr. Souza in the program Novas Fronteiras will result in benefits in the near future, through his collaboration in projects currently sponsored by FAPESP, and benefits also in medium and long terms, with the consolidation of the researches in areas not entirely developed in the State of Sao Paulo.
