Abstract

Within the context of the BIOEN program and with the objective of improving our knowledge about the complex sugarcane genome, I established, in partnership with Profa. Anete Pereira de Souza (IB - UNICAMP), a set of contacts with French institutions/research groups working in the field of genomics. The proposal corresponds to a scheduled visit of the institutions/groups that were contacted (CIRAD, INRA, GENOSCOPE, URGV). These visits will be essential to evaluate the possibility of setting up solid collaborations which would significantly benefit the physical map construction and sequencing of specific regions of the sugarcane genome. This aspect represents a key aim of the grant proposal that we submitted to FAPESP. (AU)
