Abstract

The estrus-associated protein (EAP) oviduct fluid (ODF) have effects on gamete physiology regulation, fertilization and early embryo development. This research will biochemically characterize differences in odf and sperm membrane forms of the molecule. We will compare apparent molecular weights, isoelectric points, percent glycosilation and types of carbohydrate moieties, and conduct studies assess the effects of eap forms on gamete physiology, fertilization and early embryo development. Thus, the study proposed will focus our efforts on the eap to define the mechanisms by which oviductal fluid influences gamete physiology and regulates reproduction. (AU)
