Abstract

A scientific visit to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center Data Assimilation Office is proposed. The purpose of the visit is to continue previous work on the modeling of forecast error covariances for meteorological data assimilation and develop new projects. The primary topics to be discussed are time-series analysis of forecast errors, low-rank approximations of the forecast error covariance, and the error covariance models for the regional data assimilation system at CPTEC.
