This project will focus on the swelling behavior of grain as its moisture content increases. A theoretical model of grain behavior will be developed and required physical properties will be measured. Predictions of the model will be compared to the behavior of grain in model bins. The model will initially be developed for soybeans and validated against observed behavior in model bins. Results will be replicated with wheat and corn. (AU)
