Abstract

The socio-spatial transformations occurred in the village of Jericoacoara (Ceará) in the last thirty years mark the advance of modernity with the characteristics of urban society, where the tourism phenomenon is the main mediator of the space production process. The passage of a fishing community for a tourist destination globally known is also the passage of the place of consumption to the consumption of place. In this sense, our research sought to dwell on the terms of the production of the space of the Village, contextualized by the emergence of spectacularized relationships worldwide in intimate realization with the plan of the place. On the one hand, the economic plan presents the characteristics of the reproduction of capitalist forms changing the contents of social life. The central activity in this process is tourism, as a mediator of commodity realm, objectively and subjectively, ie, the establishment of tourism in the place develops with a material basis producing an artificial landscape easily marketed and ideological where the image of the place is sold by marketing, changing meanings and local rhythms. On the other hand, the political plan reveals guarantees this setting through the political form of the state and the legal form regulating the space and extending the realm of private property by means of urban-tourism policies. On these two plans, sum up the plan lived, the realization of everyday life, that home and accentuates the contradictions of the global level within the place. The passive expulsion of the population that have traditionally inhabited the Village or their integration colonized in new economic activity gradually changes the local references, generating estrangements with space, time and memory, which start to being replaced as commodities. This context, marked the expansion of the immense poverty with that everyday life deepens the homogenization of global social relations, characterized by contradictions between social classes. (AU)
