Abstract

This research aims to analyze how the daily newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, from the publication of stories produces a construction and reproduction of the image of travestis individuals as symbolic representatives that are part of society and are embedded in the culture in which we live. The research corpus includes articles published in the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo during the period January 2000 to December 2014. The theoretical basis used will be based on the interpretive anthropology of C. Geertz, on the concepts of D. Cuche's identity and on other theorists who can contribute to this research. It seeks to examine how the elements present in the articles seek to represent the image and reality of transvestite individuals as participants in the cultural construction of society. And how the diary appropriates such social constructions so that he can formulate his texts. (AU)
