Abstract

This research studies the documentary work of american filmmaker Errol Morris, which covers the period from 1978 to the present day. Specifically, will be conducted analyzes of the documentaries The Thin Blue Line (1988), Mr. Death: The rise and fall of Fred A. Leuchter Jr. (1999) e The Fog of War (2003). From the relation between cinema and society, this study aims to understand how the filmmaker starts from his characters to investigate and promote discussions about the social and political problems of american society. For this understanding, it is necessary to analyze the forms of filmic construction used by the filmmaker, trying to identify tactics of detachment in this construction (AU)
