Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the relations between imagination and transcendental phenomenology. It is not just a question of showing the important methodological role that images play in eidetic variations that are performed by the phenomenologist. More than that, we aim here to set out Husserl\'s theory of imagination (especially in the form of free phantasy) in a privileged position to understand the transcendental becoming of phenomenology. It is intended here to highlight how the investigations about imagination from 1904 onwards dismantle a set of assumptions of psychology and empiricism that were still surreptitiously operating on Logical Investigations and how this coincides with the transformations and restatements that Husserl carries out on his philosophy. Not by chance, the pure presentification of phantasy and the transcendental reduction are both defined by neutrality modification, whereby one is absent from empirical context where the Real-Ich lives and makes its belief positions about the actual being. However, if Husserl states that the close relationship between both forms of consciousness is manifest, he is no less clear when he alerts about the danger of a complete identification. By simply identifying them, one would undertake the greatest betrayal of transcendental project, whose universal truths may not in any way be works of a phantasy consciusness. It\'s then in a twofold movement of a fruitful rapprochement and a cautious estrangement that the present study seeks its investigation\'s pace. (AU)
