Abstract

Annelida is a group of segmented and usually vermiform invertebrates presenting a great morphological diversity, which includes the family Dorvilleidae, Chamberlin 1919, belonging to the old class Polychaeta, its knowledge is still scarce due to the lack of taxonomic studies. The aim of this work is the morphological taxonomic and cladistic studies of the genus Meiodorvillea Jumars, 1974, which currently has only two described species and no records to Brazil. For this study is analyzed the material deposited in the Museu de Zoologia IB/UNICAMP (ZUEC), which has a rich collection of Dorvilleidae, with more than five thousands individuals, identified only at family level. This research presents: - the description of three new species of Meiodorvillea, species differentiated mainly by their parapodial appendages and setae; - the revision of the Meiodorvillea genus with the description of the lectotype for M. minuta ; - a detailed description of the two species of Eliberidens Wolf, 1986; and - the phylogenetic analysis with the morphological caracters for the test of the monophyly of the Meiodorvillea genus an its relationship with the following genera: Dorvillea Parfitt, 1866, Eliberidens, Marycarmenia Núñez, 1998, Protodorvillea Pettibone, 1961 e Schistomeringos Jumars, 1974 (AU)
