Abstract

This present master thesis had as core motivation seek to understand to the quest “How does the Brazilian press, represents as TV Globo, built speeches and representations about the boards‟ sports, debutants in Tokyo‟s Olympic Games, given the protagonism of the Brazilians‟ members in both modalities?”. Through the theoretical bias of French Discourse Analysis, we set up as search corpus the journalistic and sports programs of the broadcasting station in the period of July 05 and August 08, 2021 for to build more comprehensive analyses about the object of this research. The empirical analyses of this work are constantly articulated with theoretical articulations regarding the history of board sports and their close articulation with the concepts of culture, youth, detour, leisure and free time, and sport. In addition, we retrace a brief history of the Olympic Games, from their editions in antiquity to their modern version, theorized by Pierre de Coubertin, including some contributions of the mediatization process for the current configurations of this mega event. Besides the discussions about the discursive representations built about the surf and skate competitions as Olympic sports, this work is also concerned with the analysis involving an unprecedented fact, the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 edition, seeking to understand how TV Globo, as a stakeholder in the success of its realization, built discourses about this journalistic event.
