Abstract

Through a critical approach of Herbert Marcuse\'s intellectual production, this thesis aims to reconstruct the relation among Art, sensibility (Sinnlichkeit) and social change in the authors writings, in order to create a productive dialogue not only with the German philosophical tradition, but also with other collaborators of the Institute for Social Research such as Theodor W. Adorno and Walter Benjamin. Based on the historical and cultural framework in which his texts were written and published, it will be discussed the contributions and limitations of Marcuse\'s Aesthetical essays, specially in regard to the tensions beneath the theoretic, but also political proposal of constitution of a new sensibility based in another aesthetic education of man (AU)
